how to quit alcohol with pissing off the people you drink with?
these friends have been there for some really tough times. but now i'm a little scared of wasting so much time in the weekends. how do i make sure i can still hang out with them, but without getting blacked out drunk?
if drinking, just dont drink. tell them you dont want to. if there good freinds theyll understand
if its drinking too much, just drink less!!

Most people understand putting health first. They should understand if you frame it relating to your health. If they don't, and using alcohol is actually imperative to your friendship, it might be time to evaluate if that's truly what you want out of the relationship.

I don't like alcohol, so most of my friends are used to me not drinking and aren't pushy about it, but the times I've had people insisting and getting feisty because of it, I would just politely excuse myself and leave.
In the moment they may look angry, but next time you see them chances are they won't hold a grudge on you, especially if you consider them good friends, they'll probably value being in good terms with you more once they are sober. (plus once they realize peer pressure doesn't work on you, they'll be less likely to repeat it)
If your concern is just killing the vibe, I haven't tried it, but alcohol 0 drinks sound like they could work for those situations too.
Although, probably I would just suggest doing some outdoor activities for a change every one in a while, that's another non-awkward way to spend quality time without drinking

Tell them you're pregnant.

If they say "But you're a man" just tell them "I'm not comfortable talking about my past and my gender, just accept that I'm pregnant OK"

Fill a bottle of white rum with water and use that to make non alcoholic drinks while pretending to be drinking. In absence of a friend group that doesn't respect you not wanting to drink I can't think of a better alternative.

Latest scientific papers on Alcohol show it has 0 benefits and is only harmful. The whole thing like "red wine's good for your heart" and all that nonsense is actually debunked.

I quit more than 30 years ago. Since I quit I don't enjoy being with people who are drinking a lot. If I'm in a drinking environment I need to have something to do. Like I play music in a bar, that's fine.
