Secure messengers

What is your secure messenger of choice?
Personally I don't value decentralization as much as reliability and security. Both XMPP and Matrix gave me a lot of trouble in the past, with displaying messages, syncing them or inconsistencies among home servers and clients.

In the end I settled on Threema as my favourite, but I obviously use what my friends are using. If it's Matrix so be it.

I use Matrix (on self-hosted server), Threema and Signal. When Threema releases the full desktop app it will become the best messaging app imo. Signal is nice for friends who don't want to pay.

I don't like how they removed PFS for no good reason. And also the fact that only the messages are routed via the nodes, all files are stored on Oxen's servers.
