Why are people in the US not rioting if they love democracy and freedom so much?

Four years ago there was a attempted coup d'état in the country of Freedom, Peace and Democracy (TM), which obviously failed.

According to the committee investing this revolt, there was a 7-step plan to overturn the 2020 election, which seems very clear.

Now, regardless of your feelings for Trumpy and the other side, why the fuck aren't you all out on the streets rioting over that a person who attempted a coup d'état can again be president? It's absolutely fucking bananas, especially since people yell about democracy, freedom and independence, yet you allow the (posing) rich to take over control over the country?

I've said it before but I'll say it again, the common folk in the US are a fucking joke, if you just bend over and accept this. It would never fly in a proper democracy, ask a Parisian what they would do if it happened with their home.

Why are the common US person so afraid of going out on the streets and making their voice heard?

Trump won the election in November 2024. He will be sworn into office on Jan 20th. This is how the system works. Why are you advocating street riots and violence to overturn the results of a democratic process? What benefit does that have to anyone?

I'm advocating that as the system you have in place obviously doesn't work, when someone who attempted a coup d'état isn't put in jail immediately. Trump attempted to overturn the results of a previous election, that should obviously make it impossible for that person to participate in any further elections, otherwise your entire process and system is a big joke.

the system worked. the president went 45, 46, 47, or at least the system will do that work on 47 a little later today. everything else is free speech in our country, and petty government tyrants upset about it. it worked in kenosha to defund the fascist police. it worked in dc to refund the trump base.

So you are advocating for a coup to overturn the election results?

I'm advocating people going out on the streets and making their voices heard, not stopping any democratic actions. Then it's up to your representatives to listen or not. But since no one is actually protesting, the public looks like they're scared.

Perhaps freedumb and democracy are empty rhetoric. Probably that's why the only choice is between two parties not going to give them access to healthcare despite being in the wealthiest country ever. But I know nothing.

I think he should be in jail and it's a shame he was ruled legally untouchable, but sadly that's what people voted for.

Democracy can only go as far as the people involved in it. If the majority voted for him despite all the evidence of him attempting a coup, perhaps that's the leader america deserves. I don't think that can be overwritten by protests, unless the goal is to just kill half the country.

"How do you make people care?" and "How do you bridge the gap between people living in completely different epistemological realities?" are in my opinion the questions that need to be figured out if you want any change. When everyone is angry is very easy to feel like we have a same clear goal, but a revolution lead by just rage without a real unified vision will just lead to the next populist wanna-be dictator being in power

> I don't think that can be overwritten by protests

You'd be surprised what one can achieve by protests and riots :) You know how most workers can take Saturday and Sunday off work? Thanks to protests, solidarity and riots. You know how women can vote in elections? Also because of protests, solidarity and riots.

Americans have forgotten just how effective the public population can be, when it wants to. But y'all have forgotten that completely, since the rich managed to get you to focus on "fascism VS communism" instead.

Please don't take my question as bad faith, I know it may sound dumb, but it's genuine:

Then why can't criminals protest in order for their crimes to be legal?

I'm not trying to equate that in with legitimate protest movements, but I have trouble understanding how a minority can use disruption of the system and or violence to achieve a goal whithout getting us closer to a "might makes right" type of system.

I think there's a place for protests and even violence as a last resort, but I feel like in order for a protest to be effective therr must be other factors beyond people being fed up with the system and deciding to take the streets. What am I missing?

Cause criminals are a tiny minority, especially compared to women, or people who work jobs.

Also about that last part. I don't see how advocating that democratic processes should be followed despite having obvious flaws fall in a "fascism vs communism" dichotomy.

Perhaps I'm not up to date on how those terms are used nowadays, but when I think of fascism what comes to mind is trying to establish your ideology through force, censorship of opposition, control of the media and such.

In some ways I see fascism appear on both extremes of the political spectrum, left and right

Some of us are aware the system has failed. Protesting will do nothing at this point. We already saw our justice system and legal system completely fail at keeping bad actors away.

The system can't be repaired as is. We'll have to wait until a complete collapse before we can rebuild it.

Why do you feel complete collapse is the only way it could be rebuilt?

I can think of cases when something is so messed up that it's convenient to start from scratch, but I can also think of situations where things are salvageable and doing so can be a huge waste...
