why are we allowing and supporting the genocide in Gaza?

The share of the gaza population killed in the first year is similar to the share of european jews killed in the first year of the holocaust (~10%). This makes me sad and worried about the degree to which Zionist have undermined US democracy and society

The question assumes we all agree a genocide is happening in Gaza. Which makes it difficult to answer

Personally I'm fed up with people transforming every single topic into blood sports.Theres no space for nuance, you are strawmanned into the worst caricature of an evil person the moment you dont fully agree with every single talking point.

At the time I tried informing myself about it and having conversations about the issue, trying to hear opinions from both sides and come to my own conclusions. But at this point I just lost all interest. I can have a much more positive and tangible effect on my local community over fighting shadows online.

Let's set aside the blood sport then and just chat. What do you think genocide is, or is not, as it pertains to what's happening in Gaza?

Genocide is the process of complete termination of an ethnic group deliberately.

Remember: if Hamas released the hostages the war could’ve been over by now. Hamas initiated the war, it fuels the war, and for some reason it is also the victim?

The right side of a conflict isn’t determined by the higher casualty count. That’s not how things work.

(newcomer here)

I don't think civilians should be considered part of Hamas, if that's what you are saying. Are the actions of a terrorist group a good justification to kill children of the same ethnicity ?

Have you considered the possibility that Hamas is either disconnected from palestinians' interests, or worse, intentionally fueling the war ? I heard many times that netanyahu supported israel's opponents in order to maintain war and his own position, i should check if i can find a source for that

Israel literally funded Hamas in order to marginalize the secular Palestinian organizations (of which there are many.) This is not even a conspiracy theory, just Google "Israel funding of Hamas."

In any case, no one is saying that Hamas is the victim of the war, at least no here or in the vast majority of pro-Palestinian spaces. It's clear that the women and children being blown to bits en masse by Israel are.

Sure, I'll use this username to differentiate from other users wanting to join in on the conversation

I think genocide is when you try to eliminate a specific group of people, basically you want them to stop existing.

About Gaza I don't think the intention is to stop palestinians from existing. As other user mentioned below, I think it's just a war. One with a very complex history that has lasted for generations and thus has had plenty of chances for people to hold grudges against each other.

I'm sure there's been groups that see the only viable solution to exterminate the other. But I don't think that's what's fueling this war.

If you actually look at the amount of destruction that has happened in Gaza, you will actually see that at the very least it’s war crimes. With the number of civilians, children, journalists dead, you will also see it is a genocide. Most people in Gaza are not great fans of Hamas, but they’re pushed into a very small corner where the only one who’s actually defending them is a group of terrorists, what can they do actually?

I was on the side of Palestine just based on the number of casualties, then a Jewish friend told me "why don't you inform yourself of why this war is happening", I did and more and more I realize that there are no good sides and peace will only end with one side dead.

At first, I thought Israel simply wanted the land for religious reasons, then like any other conflict you realize that it's always the damn British always fucking other countries with their decisions.

So first question, "who deservers the land?: Both, Jewish were expelled from there first, but Palestinians lived there for a long time, so both deserve it.

"Gaza is an open Jail", yes and no, you put "a fence" when you leave the territory, part of the border is controlled by Egypt, and they also don't open their border because they don't want to deal with Hamas https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IsraelidisengagementfromtheGaza_Strip

"Both sides want peace", No side wants peace, this has been proved time after time on each war, there has been deals of returning territory and the resolution is always the same https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khartoum_Resolution

"Palestinian has more casualties", Israel is simply better at war, this is the reason there are way more Palestinian dead, if it was in the other direction I have no doubt they would kill as many Jewish people

"Israel continuously drops bombs on Gaza": yes, Israel also has the Iron dome, because they also get attacked, like the previous point, they are simply better at war, both sides would bomb as much as possible the other.

If I have to pick a side, I really don't know let the best win, I do feel Jewish culture is closer to western values than Palestinian and in general they have better education.

lmao Jewish culture “closer” to western culture. Jewish people embed on society. American jews are American people. Palestinian culture is Arabic culture, not western culture. It’s not dehumanizing to have a different culture, but it does conflict with your beliefs.

Remember that if Israel wanted to “bomb as much as it can”, the war would’ve ended October 8th 2024.

There is no symmetry: Israel is facing in front of terrorists. While Israel aims at critical Hamas targets hiding under hospitals and schools, the rockets flying to Israel are not really aimed and therefore target civilians.

By jewish culture I was referring to Israel, and I'm not just about the religious part but the behaviours, while ones are still stoning people to death, the others live in a modern society.

Yeah Palestinians will be genocided and driven from their homelands. No one will do shit. None of the other Arab states give a fuck either. Israel will end up taking over the Middle East.

Is this a good and moral and just thing that is happening? Probably not. But America will unconditionally back Israel no matter what until the end of time. And why this is the case cannot and will not be discussed or debated.

What's strange about your sentiment is that you think it took an outsider (Zionist) to undermine American democracy. Meanwhile America has been laying waste all over the world in unpopular interventions right since the Vietnam war.

Mossad found /pol/ real quick. The history of this Israel as a country starts with the Balfour declaration, not Abraham. “Israel” does not belong there and its plain for everyone to see that isn’t a neocon or a Jew

long ago we used to preach about the need for a two-state solution.
the two-state solution has become the no-state solution for palestine.
