USA and Greenland

Are we seeing a return to classical power dynamics between nations? If you cannot defend the territory you claim to control then someone else will take it. Genghis Khan foreign policy back on the menu?

What makes you believe that no one would defend the sovereignty of Denmark and Greenland? Denmark is a founding member of NATO, you've lost your mind if you think NATO would just let US (who just got kicked out of NATO, in this imaginary scenario) take over NATO land?

Ok so what are they going to do to stop it? Defend Greenland with F-35 IOUs? Nonexistent Patriot batteries?

Europe is totally and completely reliant on the US for security. They have no sovereignty.

It's populism and it's everywhere. Double down on protectionism, xenophobia, shows-of-force. Unfortunately it's all a sideshow to the real problem of inequality

new reality in the arctic means the north seas are transitioning into trade and defense theatres. NATO does a good job of controlling access to/from atlantic/pacific and the pole, however china/russia are developing key routes. greenland needs to be in NORAD. that's a defense tie greater than NATO or denmark. Pituffik Space Base could easily expand until there are more americans than non-americans on the island. it is kind of a small island.

Good point. We need to stop Greenland from acquiring weapons of mass destruction.
