A way to edit title/comment

How about giving non-anonymous users a privilege, like editing their posts/comments, through tripcode authentication?

It could leverage tripcode functionality to be not just a mere identification, but also authentication.

I'd vote no. Read what you're planning to post, and only plan to post stuff you're fine with existing on the internet forever, since it can exist forever.

Adding deletion will ruin conversations where it'll look like people talk to themselves, and it'll give a false impression that once deleted, no one has it anymore, which isn't true.

I see. That's a strong opinion, but suppose a user would want to clarify their post, maybe then, a limited editing privilege, or a strict editing must-have-a-reason-why probably...?

Just my thoughts though :)

not vblr, but chiming in.

I imagine in scenarios where it made sense (like sharing identifiable information by accident, or linking to a website you later discovered to be unsafe) you could contact mods or report your own comment and explain why it should get deleted.

But personally I think that should be the exception and not the norm, at least for the purposes of this site.

I think it's definitely more convenient to be able to edit your post, but I see it this way:
What behaviour do you make more likely by restricting editing/delition?
Reading what you wrote before hitting send, perhaps even thinking more carefully what you want to say and how to convey it(?)

If you misspel something or upload the wrong picture: It's human, it's not the end of the world. You'll probably double check next time

That's my perspective on it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and please continue doing so. That's one of the goals of this site. if you feel I'm missing something, I'll appreciate reading about it

Thanks for your suggestion but I agree with vblr!c5f8cfd469
I don't plan to add any editing possibilities.

on other anonymous forums, edit has been used to troll, change contexts of conversations after they occur, etc. typos would be a nice fixable, but honestly a board culture that ignores them (fix them in your head) is a better feature.

delete post might work better than edits. this avoids troll risks from edits. you can always 'edit' by reposting.
