Like people chose to avoid the big sites like reddit, YouTube, twitter and instead opted for having their own websites, or small projects that foster very specific niche communities.

old forums and websites still exist, albeit in smaller scope than the old times. Theres still a huge community of people that value doing things yourself.

||last few weeks ive been asking all kinds of things to kagi assistants that i used to trawl the web for. i dont miss it. now it feels loud and obscenely corporate. the text bathing i am awash in feels like the highs of when aol messenger was a thing.

||The old internet isn't dead, it's just that the general public forgot that there is a wider internet than the big social media sites. And those big social media sites are infested with gen-ai spam.
