You'll need to be more specific. Old internet means different things to every generation. Are AOL and Yahoo dead? Absolutely.

I wish the current internet died a little, actually.

Like people chose to avoid the big sites like reddit, YouTube, twitter and instead opted for having their own websites, or small projects that foster very specific niche communities.

It was a weirder place- the signal to noise ratio was higher because the consumer/producer isn't as skewed as it now

We people talk about "is the internet "dead" now?", they're usually referring to "Dead Internet theory" and similar hypothesis'. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DeadInternettheory

And yes, more and more every day there is less and less humans on the web, and more and more bots, which the invention of the LLM only accelerated.

the old internet is so much more alive than you think!
old forums and websites still exist, albeit in smaller scope than the old times. Theres still a huge community of people that value doing things yourself.
some of my favourite "old internet"
websites are the melonland forums and neocities.

The old internet isn't dead, it's just that the general public forgot that there is a wider internet than the big social media sites. And those big social media sites are infested with gen-ai spam.
