JPOST: Israel must prepare for potential war with Turkey

> “The threat from Syria could evolve into something even more dangerous than the Iranian threat,” the report states, warning that Turkish-backed forces might act as proxies, fueling regional instability.

> The committee’s assessment comes amid Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's increasingly assertive policies in the region, which some analysts view as antagonistic to Israel's interests.

> The committee proposes increasing the defense budget by up to NIS 15 billion annually over the next five years to ensure the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are equipped to handle challenges posed by Turkey, alongside other regional threats.

Netanyahu addressed the report, stating, “We are witnessing fundamental changes in the Middle East. Iran has long been our greatest threat, but new forces are entering the arena, and we must be prepared for the unexpected. This report provides us with a roadmap to secure Israel’s future.”

Meanwhile, Turiye Today reports that Israel should prepare for war with Türkiye, and issues a warning to the "Zionist government committee"[1]. Given recent tensions in Sinai, with Israeli Defense Minister accusing his Egyptian counterparts of violating the Suez accords[2], what are the geopolitical implications of a post-Assad middle east potentially being more hostile, rather than less hostile, to Israeli interests in the region?

Will NATO defend Türkïyë against Israeli aggression?

in a sense, yes. currently NATO allied forces (US) act as a buffer between the factions, much like peacekeepers. this works equally for the kurdish minority regions as for those areas in the south which may fall under israeli influence. if the turks, or their militias, start shooting US neutrals, the US neutrals will retaliate. if the IDF starts shelling US neutrals, most likely the peacekeepers would be withdrawn. assuming israeli aggression is outside territorial turkiye, most likely NATO Article 5 would be meaningless. However, Turkiye is a large and modern army with regional ambitions and local mandates. assad used to be a buffer between T and I as regional powers. the neutral zone is now disappearing.

Fuck yeah we will. NATO member is NATO member, who gives a shit which country is being attacked, but if our neighbor gets attacked, we're all supporting them.

what scenario do you envision where IDF action against Turkiye leads to US/NATO intervention on behalf of Turkiye against Israel?

It certainly seems that we are witnessing a massive change in the dynamics of the region, maybe biggest change in the global order since 1945.
